Internships
The National Museum of Dance offers internship opportunities within a wide range of fields and interests. Each internship is a unique experience for both the participant and the museum. The intimate environment and variety of on-going projects and events allows interns to engage in all facets of an active arts organization.

Internships are offered year round, may be full or part time, and for college credit or independent interests. At this time, internships at the NMD are unpaid. Please note that interning at the museum does not require a prior interest or knowledge of dance itself. We require a 3.5 GPA from applicants to be considered for an internship and a minimum of 10 hours of work per week from our interns. Please keep this in mind while applying for an internship at the museum.

We offer two general types of internships: Administrative Internships and Exhibit Internships.

The Administrative Internship will expose the intern to all aspects of the NMD office and will perform many duties including administrative work, mailings, communication, public relations, marketing, event programming, children's programming, membership outreach, and many other areas of interest. Interns applying for this position should express any specific areas of interest or study (public relations, marketing, etc.) so that the internship can be tailored to meet those needs, whether they are personal or required for college credit. General descriptions of areas of interest can be found here.

Interns working within the Exhibit Internship will assist the museum staff (Assistant Director & Designer) in the development of new and detailed exhibits. Tasks associated with this internship are historical research, design, and construction of museum exhibits.
